A hot tub should never have water that is too cloudy to see through. Bubbles yes, but cloudy - no. There could be quite a few culprits causing your hot tub water to be less than clear:1) High copper or iron content2) Algae growth3) Overused or old water4) Improper sanitizing5) Dirty filters6) Oils or organic matterIf your cloudy water problem doesn't seem too overwhelming, shocking the water could work wonders. If that isn't the case, then we recommend draining, cleaning and refilling your hot tub along with the addition of a proper sanitizer.
It is always a good idea to clean the filters if you haven't done it in a while. Once refilled, test your chemical levels to ensure that they are within the recommended range.
A moldy, sour or strong chlorine smell coming from your hot tub is a classic sign that something is definitely wrong with the water. A few causes of a bad smell coming from your hot tub could be:1) Excessive organics in water2) Improper sanitization3) Low pH
If the smell isn't too strong, you could try adding a sanitizer or shocking the water to see if that helps clear up the smell.
